About / Origin & standards

We engineer hardware tostay useful for a decade.

Aevum Labs began as a repair bench in a garage outside Clear Lake, South Dakota. We were tired of watching well-built machines end up in a drawer because nobody would fix them. Today we curate, test and service a small catalogue of hardware built to the same rule: if it ships with our name on it, we will still repair it in 2034.

Engineering / Four pillars

What we promise, in plain language.

01

Built in our own lab

Every product on this site has been opened, measured and lived with on a real desk in Clear Lake. If we can't fix it, we don't sell it.

02

Honest specifications

Numbers on a product page come from the bench, not the press kit. Thermal envelopes, battery curves and acoustic sweeps are re-run before publication.

03

Service over replacement

Spare parts are stocked for five years after a product ships. When something fails, we repair it; we don't try to talk you into an upgrade.

04

People answer the phone

Our support line goes to a technician, not a script. They have the same tools our engineers use to build the catalogue.

Origin / Timeline

A short history of the lab.

  1. 2014

    Workbench in a garage

Two engineers, one thermal camera and a single soldering station. We start by rebuilding used laptops for local studios that couldn't trust refurbished gear.

  2. 2017

    First in-house bench

We open a 90 m² lab in Clear Lake. The acoustics room, the thermal rig and a calibrated display reference go live the same month.

  3. 2019

    First Limited Lab Edition

The Meridian notebook ships as a run of 90 numbered units. Buyers still send them back for service today, and we still have every driver disk.

  4. 2022

    The catalogue opens

Aevum Labs goes from a private engineering studio to a public catalogue. Twenty-five products earn their place on the bench in the first year.

  5. 2025

    Component-level service

We expand to lifetime component servicing on Lab Editions and three-year cover on every catalogue product, including battery replacement at cost.

People / Bench team

The people behind the bench.

Aevum Labs is intentionally small. The four people below decide what enters the catalogue and what does not.

MH

Maren Holloway

Co-founder, Engineering

Spent a decade at a notebook OEM before she got tired of shipping unrepairable hinges. Now she oversees the mechanical and thermal benches.

IV

Idris Vance

Co-founder, Test & Standards

Former colourist who turned to hardware after too many panels drifted during a film grade. Runs display calibration and the acoustic room.

LO

Lena Okafor

Head of Service

Rebuilds what others replace. Lena runs the repair bench and stocks every spare part we still have a duty to ship.

SP

Sami Pulkkinen

Lead Software Engineer

Writes the firmware and the test rigs. If a measurement script exists in the lab, Sami wrote it on a Tuesday and forgot about it on Wednesday.

Service / Lifetime

Need a repair, a part, or a measurement?

Tap into the same lab that built the catalogue. We service everything we sell, and we answer with a name.
